    RESEARCH WORKS OF LUNG CANCER

Scientists and researchers has done great work in proffering solutions to the prevention and treatment of lung cancer through their thorough research and discoveries work in the 21st century. Conducting research give hope to the hopeless cancer patients  and help us to know  how to prevent , treat, detect and  the possible causes of lung cancer. though that progress has been made on the course of research work, much has to be done before treatment is giving to a patient. One of the most discoveries pursued to date is epidermal growth factor receptors  ( EGFR) which enhance the growth and multiplication of cancer cells. Despite the introduction of lung cancer drugs to stop the progress  of these mutation,  EGFR tumors show resistance to treatment  which result to the development of tumors to some instances. By considering the reason and why lung cancer developed. Researchers were now able to discovered what remain as secret of this  tumor mutations. Different ways of treatment are now made available to patients through the help of EGFR- mutated non- small cell lung cancer who developed a mutation known as T790M. Scientist proof through clinical trials that  using these strategy to stop T790m lower down the development of cancer when comparing with advance treatment like chemotherapy. Advance research also shows other tumors contributors like anaplastic lymphomas kinase (ALK) genes, kirsten rat sorcoma (KRAS) gene and mesenchymal epithelial transition (MET). There are therapies for ALK- positive  NSCLC , and there is ongoing research for MET or KRAS positive tumors.
Critical and well known testing methods must taking into account in order for treatment to be given to patients with regards to any type of mutations. Over the years, there is high level of progress in biomarker testing. every patients have a lung biopsy  in order to get a piece of their tumor for examining  their genetic mutations. patients can undergo non- invasive blood test in order to check their tumor mutation status
